A settlement was approved in an Illinois court concerning a lawsuit filed by a woman against Save 'N Shop. The lawsuit concerned a slip and fall accident after the woman apparently injured herself in a grocery store.

It appears that the woman slipped or fell upon a case of soda that was stacked upon the floor. Though the extent of her injuries was not disclosed, the woman did seek $50,000 for medical costs and for court fees.

Individuals that are injured due to slip and fall accidents would likely benefit from speaking to a seasoned personal injury attorney. Such attorneys can investigate what has occurred, and can negotiate with the business to help victims be compensated for their injuries.

In today's economy, medical damages can accumulate very quickly. Just an overnight stay in the hospital can end up costing in the thousands of dollars. Though an individual's health insurance will often cover such costs, this cannot be taken for granted.

Plus, we still want businesses to keep their premises safe so that these types of injuries do not continue to occur. That's why courts will hold such businesses accountable for injuries that do occur.

What we sometimes forget is that there is much more to such slip and fall injuries than simple medical costs. Such individuals often end up out of work for a period of time, may have to pay others for services since the injured party is unable to perform regular household tasks, and sometimes suffer severe and debilitating injuries.
